These success stories were published by the Department of Science & Technology (DOST) Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Integrated Program on Cleaner Production Technologies (IPCT) to highlight the benefits of cleaner production.  Mention of trade names or commerical products does not constitute endorsement.


>  Issue 1 Year 2002: Food Industry
Keeping Products from Going Down the Drain
A food processing plant realized savings of up to 1.39 million pesos per year through process modifications with a payback period of only four months.

> Issue 2 Year 2002: Textile Industry
Aligning Business and Environmental Planning

A dyehouse was able to reduce its water, energy, and chemical consumption considerably and this translated to an annual savings of 3.3 million pesos with a payback period of 13 months.

A change in raw material specifications allowed a food processing firm to save PhP 218,000 annually.

A mirror manufacturer invested in HVLP spray guns to reduce paint usage which enabled the company to save almost PhP 70,000 yearl.

Going Nuts with CP
A cashew nuts processor not only increased its productivity but also its capacity to procure the high-priced raw material through its annual savings of over half a million pesos.

A specialty sugar manufacturer was able to reduce its solid waste, increase its productivity and save PhP 400,000 by implementing various Cleaner Production options.

By switching from incandescent bulbs to fluorescent lamps, a retreat house saves PhP 70,000 per year.

An annual savings of more than two and a half million pesos proved to this canned food processor that business and environment do mix well.
