IPCT conducts trainings/workshops
and seminars and develops training manuals to complement the
activities of the program in building the technical capabilities
of DOST personnel, industries, the academe, LGUs and other
stakeholders.
CPAT:
Cleaner Production Assessment Training
CP Assessment Training constitutes the principles, approaches
and guidelines in the conduct of an assessment procedure that
will encourage generation of CP options by small and medium
enterprises (SMEs).
Duration : 2 days
Objectives : The goal of the traiing is to equip
the industry personnel with the knowledge and skills in
implementing CP Practices.
Course Content:
The training has three (3) modules, namely:
1. Philippine Environmental Realities
This module discusses the existing environmental
problems in our country today. It also covers the current
and emerging trends and the three major global issues,
namely: global warming, ozone layer depletion and acid
rain.
Its objectives are:
- Enumerate Philippine environmental
problems and issues, and
- Identify applicable environmental
and other related regulations.
2. CP Concepts and Philosophy
This module introduces the concept of cleaner production
(CP) and mentions its benefits. It tackles the multimedia
transfer of pollution and the material balance model.
It also includes the waste management hierarchy and an
overview of the CP Program.
Its objectives are:
- Define the terms related to CP
- Enumerate the advantages of implementing
CP
- Distinguish the differences between
waste management schemes nd identify whish must receive
priority
3. CP Assessment
This module takes about the details in
setting up CP Program from the top management commitment
to the detailed assessment down to the implementation
and maintaining the Program.
Its objectives are:
- Enumerate possible CP tools for assessing
and generating CP Options
- Implement the CP options generated
through CP assessment in their own respective plants

Minimization in Auto Repair Shops
This seminar discusses the hazardous wastes generated
in auto repair shops and its properties.The seminar includes
discussion of the route of entry of toxic chemical groups
commonly found in waste from auto repair shops.
ECO 201:
Basic Ecology and Economics for Small
Businesses
ECO 201 is a fundamental course towards
adopting cleaner production (CP) options that would increase
productivity, improve quality and reduce waste generation.
The training intends to promote the eco-efficiency of Philippine
industries by raising the level of awareness on environmental,
economic and social issues and by providing information on
eco-profit tools to SME entrepreneurs and their staff.
